     The wealth of the city's historical monuments includes the Księży Młyn - a unique factory and residential complex, now the museum which shows how the barons of industry lived in Łódź up till WWII, the Israel Poznański palaces - now one is the seat of the Historical Museum of Łódź and another one houses the Museum of Art. One of the oldest mills houses the Textile Museum which holds a fine collection of Polis modern artistic fabrics. Most likely, Piotrkowska Street is the longest commercial street in Europe. The September International Festival of Techno Music is only one of many cultural events organized in Łódź. >>>>

     The Łódź region is proud of its Poland's biggest Romanesque church. The stone collegiate church in Tum dates back to the 12th century. Other Romanesque monuments include a nicely renovated St Giles' Church (11th c.) in Inowłódz, St Nicolas' Church in Żarnów with its 12th century tower and Romanesque transept, Cistercian abbey at Sulejów- Podklasztorze, brick church (13th c.) at Strońsko, SS Peter and Paul Church at the village of Krzyworzeka with a freestanding belfry (13th c.) >>>>


Folklore and colorful processions - Łowicz

     The city famous for its colorful Corpus Christi processions during which the participants are dressed in the traditional local folk costumes. The old missionary college (17th c.) houses the Regional Museum with the collection of baroque art and the local folk art. The Łowicz region skansen is located in the nearby Maurzyce, where a country wedding show can be organized on request. >>>>

     The Gothic castle of Oporów (15th c.) is one of the few castle in Poland that survived in almost their original form. Raised on an artificial island, it is entirely surrounded by a moat and a fine landscape park (19th c.). It houses a museum of interior decorations with art collections from different epochs (16th-19th cc.). At one end of the village stands a monastic complex from the 15th century.

     A baroque wooden country manor in an old park built in 1757. It houses a museum of manorial interiors collected mainly in the houses of the region: furniture, porcelain, tapestries, silverware, and portraits of the Wieluń gentry. Classical music concerts are held in the museum once a month.

Water reservoir amidst woods

     Surrounded by woods, the lake is a good place for practicing water sports and angling. The environs are friendly for bikers, horse riders and mushroom pickers. Anglers can catch pikeperch, pike, perch, bream, eel and carp. The Cistercian monastic complex (13th c.) of the Sulejów-Podklasztorze is one of Europe's best preserved defensive constructions. The baroque Franciscan monastery (17th c.) in the nearby Smardzewice. The bison reserve at Książ and the landscape park in the vicinity of Tomaszów Mazowiecki are the major natural attractions of the area. >>>>

Museum of manorial interior decorations - Tubądzin

     The neoclassical palace and landscape park (early 19th c.) in which its last owner, Kazimierz Walewski, established an archive and family museum. Today the stylish residence houses a museum of manorial interior decorations with reconstituted collections of the Walewski family. Permanent exhibitions: "Manorial Interior Decorations From the Turn of the 19th Century", "Portrait Gallery of the Walewski Family (17th-19th cc.)", "Manorial Outbuildings From the Second Half of the 19th Century".

Baroque palace and romantic park

     The baroque palace of Nieborów is now occupied by the National Museum of Warsaw. Its rococo and neoclassical interiors shelter collections of paintings, ancient sculptures, furniture and a library with 10,000 volumes. The palace is surrounded by a vast English landscape park. A seven kilometer linden tree alley leads from Nieborów to the romantic park of Arkadia laid out in the 18th century. The park is full of various decorative elements and rare specimens of trees and shrubs. Visitors to Nieborów can enjoy a horse ride or go for a cart trip in the environs. >>>>
